Courageous Inclusion is a way of life, it is also described in a model and forms the basis of a collection of programmes. The programmes are designed to enable people in the workplace to create equity, inclusion and belonging, by valuing all of our human diversity. Courageous inclusion is grounded in a vision and ethos which shape how the programmes are run, including what we expect of our facilitators and participants.
Vision
"To evolve the human race so that everyone inherently values, and has the skill, to be truly inclusive of each other's diversity".
Ethos (beliefs & principles)
Our programmes are grounded in the following beliefs and principles;
- We provide an environment for growth, by enabling people to tap into their innate capacity to connect more deeply to their authentic nature - connecting to their physical, psychological and emotional reality through awareness and compassion
- We recognise our shared humanity and deep connection to each other, we explore this through the lenses of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEI&B)
- We provide a global context, offering opportunities for personal growth in relationship to a diverse community
- We recognise and encourage exploration of our intersectional identities, covering all forms of diversity (e.g. race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sex and gender identity, (dis)ability, religion, age and socio-economic status)
- We explore how meaning is created through dialogue, shaping ourselves and our understanding of each other and wider DEI&B
- Our relationships and interactions are held to be sacred and we take a stance of shared learning, compassion and connection
Facilitators and participants (attitudes & behaviours)
We encourage both our facilitators and participants to enter into our learning environments with these attitudes and behaviours.
- Strive to understand and work within our vision and ethos
- Recognise that our societies are constructed to include fundamental inequities between groups of people
- Commit to personal learning - being fully present at each element of the programme and completing real world experiments in-between learning modules
- Recognise we are in an interdependent and mutual responsible relationship with everyone attending, committing to manage self and take responsibility to work towards completing any unfinished business that is created during the course of the programme
